The historic first ever national Libertarian Party debate has aired, believe it! People are unsatisfied with Republicans and Democrats restricting our freedoms and invading our privacy. 2016 is the year people are yearning for liberty. We can thank John Stossel and Fox Business for hosting and airing the debate consecutive Fridays. They were smart for doing this in recognizing the will of the people. Click here to view my take after watching the first part of the debate that aired on April 1st 2016. Part two aired April 8th 2016.
America needs a third party. We do not want to be forced to choose between the statists of the left or right, or not participating in protest. My favorite part of the debate can be watched here when the 2nd Amendment was the subject of debate. Austin Petersen was fantastically strong:
“Don’t you think that King George would have declared the colonists to be mentally ill? It’s the government that sets the standards. The government has no right to take away our form of self defense. It is an individual right to bear arms, we the people, are the militia, and we should have every right to defend ourselves. I would overturn the National Firearms Act so fast your head would spin! Because nobody, should be forced to pay $200 to put a suppressor on the end of their AR-15. I built my first one last year, and I use it frequently for hunting. But the 2nd Amendment was not for hunting, the 2nd Amendment was to shoot at tyrants if the government becomes tyrannical.”
John McAfee was also solid:
“Well if anyone doubts my position on the 2nd Amendment you have never seen a single photograph of me. The Constitution gives us the right to bear arms, not just to own guns, it says to bear arms, to carry them on our person without restriction.”
It is exciting to have candidates who actually understand and exercise the 2nd Amendment. How much more legit can you get on the 2nd Amendment by building your own Ar-15 and using a suppressor? Nobody wants to hear about restricting our right to bear arms.
The next step is for the Libertarian Party to choose a single nominee at their convention taking place in Orlando in May. That person should go into the national debate this fall, joining the Democratic and Republican nominees, presumably Clinton and Trump.
The presidential debate commission is being sued to allow access to the Libertarian Party nominee. The presidential debate commission is a private group run by the Democrats and Republicans and their special interests, essentially gate keepers so that only they are allowed in the national debate. Can you imagine a debate between Clinton, Trump, and any one of these three? It would be totally fantastic and I would throw a party. Things are getting interesting, this is certainly an exciting time to be alive!
